The Office of Facilities and Support Services (OFSS) provides an enterprise-wide, cross-divisional approach to the management of facilities, office space and assets, response to emergencies, records management, risk management, fleet management and transportation services for the department. The Office is organized into three organizational units:
- The Director's Office provides overall management and supervision of the Office of Facilities and Support Services.
- The Property Support Services Section provides the following services:
- Business operations and support to all the DHS divisions and offices in the 2 Peachtree Building. This includes I.D Card/access control and security, space allocation and management, space planning and design, parking for executive leadership, records management, risk management and mail processing. OFSS provides mail processing for all agencies in the 2 Peachtree Building, through Memoranda of Agreement.
- Emergency management - This includes coordination with federal, state and volunteer agencies that respond to natural and civil emergencies and disasters, coordinating with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and FEMA.
- Enterprise-wide facility management – This includes the management of the department's assets and the surplus and disposal of assets. Also in this area, the Office provides real property management which includes a consistent department-wide approach to managing approximately 400 leases across the state and the management of the DHS building in Albany.
- The Transportation Services Section (TSS) provides cost-efficient access to department services by managing a coordinated, enterprise-wide transportation system for human services.
- OFSS/TSS provides daily program management and administration of the coordinated client transportation services for the Department and the financial management grants management for these transportation services.
- OFSS/TSS also provides transportation services through contracts with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, and the county governments of Clayton, Dekalb, and Gwinnett.
- This section also provides fleet management of the motor vehicles for both DHS and DBHDD (though a Memorandum of Agreement).
- Also, the Section provides a department-wide approach to safety program development, training and coordination and risk management and loss prevention programs.
