ATLANTA (GA) – The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) in Carrollton, Georgia is giving noncustodial parents the opportunity to put their "Children First," setting aside 2 days in November and 2 days in December as "Settlement Day".
On November 14th and 15th, noncustodial parents who are not under a support order to pay child support but have an open case with OCSS will be given the opportunity to come into the office or courthouse, sign up for OCSS services, sign a DNA agreement and have DNA testing. This will save the noncustodial parent both time and money. If DNA/Paternity has been established prior to this date, the noncustodial parent will be given the opportunity to establish a child support order prior to the new guidelines effective January 2007. If there is no case with OCSS, the office will expedite any noncustodial parent applications received two weeks prior to this date in an effort to allow the applicant the same opportunity on "Settlement Day".
Also, on December 11th and 14th, noncustodial parents who have a case with OCSS and are under court order to pay child support will be given the opportunity to make payments. OCSS will be prepared to release licenses and liens, dismiss contempt actions and possibly even pickup orders for significant purge payments. Letters were sent to noncustodial parents in the Carrollton area. However, those who did not receive a letter are welcome to come in and take advantage of the settlement opportunity. All parents should bring a valid driver’s license or other government-issued picture ID, social security card, money orders or cashier’s checks, proof of income and copies of any court orders that involve the children. The Department of Human Resources Office of Child Support Services is encouraging any noncustodial parents to participate in this event. Locations and dates are as follows:
November 14th: Carrollton Office
November 15th: Troup County Courthouse
December 11th: Carrollton Office
December 14th: Carrollton Office
