ATLANTA (GA) - The Georgia Department of Human Resources is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ketty M. Gonzalez to the position of Health Director for the East Central District in Augusta. She will begin her new role with the agency on October 16th.
"With a commitment to improving the health of Georgians, Dr. Gonzalez is an exceptional fit for our agency and, particularly, the East Central Health District," said Dr. Stuart Brown, Director of the Division of Public Health.
Since 1999, Dr. Gonzalez has served as the Division Director for Atlanta Regional Office, Office of Performance Review (OPR), of the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Prior to her role as Division Director, she served as the branch chief for the Family Health Branch, Division of Family Health Resources Development, U.S. Public Health Service Region IV Office, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
"I am looking forward to working at the local level to make changes within the community that will enhance the health of citizens statewide," said Dr. Gonzalez.
Dr. Gonzalez received her medical degree from Universidad Central del Este, Dominican Republic, School of Medicine in 1978. In 1992, she completed graduate studies in the Administrative and Preventive Medicine Program at the University of Wisconsin at Madison where she received a Master in Science degree.
