The Georgia Council on Aging celebrates Senior Week at the capitol

The Georgia Council on Aging (GCOA) will celebrate Senior Week at the Georgia State Capitol, March 2-4, 2004, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Rotunda. The theme is Aging in Place&Priceless. Older Georgians will take pictures with the Governor on Thursday, March 4, between 10 and 11 a.m., and legislative updates will be given each day from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. in room 230, according to Carol Rowe-Jones, GCOA public relations information specialist.

The Council will also present a resolution to George M. Kirkland, Jr., on Thursday, March 4, for his consistent contribution to the improvement of conditions in Georgia and tireless efforts on behalf of people around the world, while working with the American National Red Cross, said Rowe-Jones.

Senior week is organized annually to provide seniors throughout the state of Georgia with an opportunity to meet with their legislators to raise public awareness about issues affecting the states growing aging population, according to Rowe-Jones.
