Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

According to the 2009 American Community Survey, approximately 102,000 grandparents in Georgia were responsible for raising their grandchildren. Understanding the complexities of this phenomenon, The Department of Human Services is reaching out to grandparents raising grandchildren by providing more access to resources through all of the Department’s services/programs. Because we value families, we appreciate grandparents raising grandchildren and understand that caring for a child may have its challenges.

This listing includes resources and services that are available statewide or countywide and will serve as a place for grandparents to get further referrals for their individual needs. This list includes financial, health, and social services available for grandparents raising grandchildren provided by the Department of Human Services Divisions and Offices.

The availability of services may depend on eligibility and your county of residence.
