January 27, 2009 - The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) and the Fatherhood Program are collecting teddy bears and other stuffed animals for children as part of their “Bearable Hugs for Georgia’s Children” campaign. The toys will be given to children in foster care, children receiving access and visitation services through OCSS, and children receiving care at pediatric facilities throughout Georgia.
January 27, 2009 – The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health is urging Georgia’s African-American population to get tested for HIV and know their status on February 7: National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD). While they make up only 30 percent of the state’s population, African-Americans accounted for 78 percent of the HIV cases diagnosed and 71 percent of those living with HIV/AIDS in 2007.
January 23, 2009 – The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) will consolidate its three offices in Fulton County to one location in February 2009. The new Fulton County OCSS office will be at 1526 East Forrest Avenue, Suite 300 in East Point. The office will be open for business effective Monday, February 9, 2009.

January 13, 2009 – The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health encourages residents who may be traveling to Washington, D.C., for the 56th presidential inauguration to plan ahead to help prevent health-related problems. Federal, state and local governments, along with the American Red Cross and hospitals in the Washington, D.C. area, have a plan to meet the health and medical needs of the many visitors and residents. But there are steps attendees can take to prevent weather-related health problems.
January 2, 2009 – The Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) Division of Public Health has released the results of a public health assessment of the LHR Farms facility in Cleveland, Georgia. The assessment will be available for review and public comment through January 30, 2009, at the White County Library at 60 Bell Street in Cleveland.
