Interim Commissioner Gerlda B. Hines

Interim Commissioner

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal appointed Gerlda Hines Interim Commissioner of the Department of Human Services on Nov. 8, 2018. She succeeded Robyn A. Crittenden, who was appointed Secretary of State for the remainder of Brian Kemp’s term after he resigned.

Hines previously served as the chief of staff and chief financial officer of the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS). She has more than 25 years of financial management experience and 17 years of state service, including experience as the deputy commissioner of DHS, chief financial officer for the Georgia Student Finance Commission and deputy chief financial officer for the Department of Community Health. Hines is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola University in New Orleans. Hines has one child and lives in Marietta.
