Georgia Department of Community Health, Office of Minority Health’s Georgia HIV/AIDS Project helps identify programs and organizations that want to participate in HIV/AIDS efforts. Many than 150 minority grassroots efforts, including churches and minority specific advocacy, have been identified. The Project provides technical and networking assistance as well as capacity-building activities. The Georgia HIV/AIDS Project is conducting a series of community forums in Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, Fort Valley, and Albany to identify issues, resources, and next steps for regional HIV/AIDS programs and services. Forum participants include politicians, local business representatives, spiritual leaders, consumers, advocates, community gatekeepers, health professionals, and representatives from History Black Colleges and Universities. These perspectives will contribute to a discussion of strategic solutions towards effective service delivery and improvement. The Office of Minority Health is also developing a resource inventory of grassroots efforts throughout the piece. For more information about the inventory (known as "Putting the Pieces Together") contact the Office of Minority Health at 404/463-2289.
