On Wednesday, April 1, Census Day will be observed nationwide. Due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the U.S. Census Bureau has been adjusting 2020 census deadlines. The U.S. Census Bureau released a March 11 COVID-19 press release and March 15 Group Quarters press release on COVID-19.

The Census Bureau has strongly encouraged self-response, with options to respond online, by phone or by mail. Households should have already received official census mail with detailed information on how to respond. Many Georgians are practicing social distancing to prevent further spread of COVID-19, and responding online is an easy option that only takes a few minutes and keeps us in adherence to the call for limiting in-person contact. You can find directions for responding online in your official census mailer. Your response is required by law and by responding, you will provide an accurate count of the needs in your community – affecting the funding and representation of your region and the state as a whole.
