ATLANTA — GeorgiaCares, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program, is offering free Medicare webinars to help individuals learn about Medicare from the comfort of their home. GeorgiaCares offers safe, contactless Medicare presentations during this year’s Medicare Open Enrollment period, which runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. 
 
Certified Medicare counselors help those on Medicare who are 65 years or older, and qualified people with disabilities under 65, select the health and drug plan that works best for them.  
 
GeorgiaCares is offering three series of webinars during the Open Enrollment period to help meet the needs of eligible Georgians.

  • The Medicare 101 webinar highlights the expanded services provided to seniors. Beneficiaries are encouraged to schedule telehealth appointments with their doctors to help them stay healthy. Medicare offers virtual check-ins to help seniors talk to professionals about non-medical related issues like social isolation and ways to cope with it.
  • The New to Medicare Boot Camp (Part I and II) webinars will help individuals who are about to turn 65 and those transitioning to Medicare. The webinar covers Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, and will teach participants about Medicare enrollment options.
  • The Answers to your Medicare questions webinars are offered once a month on Saturday for those with busy schedules. Each month, a different Medicare topic will be covered to educate individuals about Medicare scams, and presenters will provide a live demo on how to use the Medicare Plan Finder tool.
