Help deliver meals to older adults in your community
With COVID-19 a continued health threat, the number of home-delivered meal participants has increased as most older adults are staying in their homes to stay safe. And more volunteers are needed to bring their meals to their doors. The home-delivered meals program serves more than 10,000 older adults across the state.
The service is designed to provide nutritious, well-balanced meals at minimal cost to homebound seniors. The service also aims to assist people in maintaining independent living in the community by meeting dietary needs along with addressing senior isolation.
Meal providers rely on volunteers for delivery, and with COVID-19 and the holiday season in full swing, many have faced volunteer shortages.
