What role can you play in your community?

You play a role for everyone you know. Your actions have an impact, especially on children. The unique actions you take can nurture a community where everyone can thrive. 

As Child Abuse Prevention Month comes to a close, help make your community stronger and more nurturing — where all children grow up safe, people have jobs and can provide for those they love, and families receive the care they deserve.

What role can you play? 

1.  Caring neighbor: Get to know families where you live, both adults and children. 

2.  Kind coworker: Listen to your colleagues who are parents. Encourage them to get help when they need it by sharing the 1-800-CHILDREN helpline (1-800-244-5373) and www.PCAGeorgiaHelpline.org to find local resources available to Georgia families.  

3.  Supportive friend: Check in on your parent friends and be the one they reach out to when they need a sympathetic ear.  

4.  Model mentor: Help young people find and reach their goals. 

5.  Involved community member: Support your neighborhood schools or volunteer at your local community center, join your region’s efforts to implement Georgia’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Plan.
