Make the holidays brighter for older and/or disabled adults

Don’t let someone feel forgotten over the holidays. Across Georgia, there are more than 1,000 older adults and individuals with disabilities under public guardianship. The Department of Human Services (DHS) may be appointed as the guardian of last resort when the probate court deems that a person needs guardianship services and there is no one else who is able to assume responsibility.

Help spread a little light to these Georgians this holiday season. The DHS Division of Aging Services is seeking small gift donations for these individuals as part of its “Light Up the Holidays” campaign!

Here’s how you can fill the holidays with joy for these older Georgians and/or adults with disabilities:

• Email Jennifer Hogan at [email protected] by Nov. 12 to request a short list of gifts that someone would appreciate. You are free to choose just one item or everything on the list. (We recommend striking a balance between practical and enjoyable gifts.) 
• OR – Ask for a list of frequently requested items that will be assigned to participants who have few or no gifts. (Examples include socks, blankets, toiletries and other basics.) 
• Shop and have fun!
• Pack the gifts in a mailing box and ship it to the following address by Nov. 12, 2021:

• A donation receipt is available upon request. That’s it!
