DHS recognizes Child Support Awareness Month
The Georgia Department of Human Services’ Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is proud to join the nation in observing August as Child Support Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the critical support that parents provide to children to help them thrive. Throughout the month, we will recognize and celebrate the vital role Georgia’s child support program plays in promoting the safety and well-being of children.
DCSS’ mission is to increase the reliability of child support paid by parents when they live apart from their children. DCSS offers a wide range of services, such as establishing paternity, setting and enforcing fair support orders, collecting and distributing child support payments, ensuring compliance with court orders, and reviewing and modifying court orders when circumstances change. During Federal Fiscal Year 2023, these services resulted in $670 million in child support payments that benefitted over 428,000 children in Georgia.
DCSS understands that parents may encounter challenges while trying to provide support to their children. When this occurs, DCSS works with parents to eliminate payment barriers and provide other assistance, including referrals to employment services, promoting healthy co-parenting relationships, encouraging responsible fatherhood, and working to prevent and reduce family violence. You can learn more about the outreach services available to parents here:

DCSS offers several self-service options to connect with parents:
- DCSS On the Go mobile app: Parents with current child support cases can use the app to securely access information about their cases, upload documents, make and review payments, view upcoming appointments, and receive important notifications and alerts regarding their cases. Download the app via the App Store or the Google Play Store.
- Chat feature: Parents can chat live with a qualified chat support team who can help them obtain information about their case and provide information regarding payments to their account.
- Communication Center: Parents can access a variety of options through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system available by calling 1-877-GADHSGO (1-877-423-4746). Some of the options available include making a payment by phone, receiving automated case information and speaking with a child support representative.
