Georgia DHS to open new Gwinnett offices in Lawrenceville Aug. 21
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – The Georgia Department of Human Services will soon open the doors of its newest office in Gwinnett County.
The Georgia Human Services Center opens Aug. 21 at 95 Constitution Blvd. in Lawrenceville. Initially, the building will serve clients of the Department’s Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). By mid-November, clients of the Department’s Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) and the Division of Aging Services (DAS) will also conduct business at the new location.
The 100,000 square feet building will house 400 employees and is expected to serve more than 120,000 families in Gwinnett County.
DFCS, which currently provides economic assistance and child welfare services to Gwinnett County residents from three locations in the county, will move all staff based in Gwinnett County to the new location throughout the fall.
Beginning Aug. 21, residents can apply in person at the new location for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or food stamps), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and medical and child care assistance.
Applications for TANF, medical assistance and child care assistance can also be made online at compass.ga.gov.
DFCS offices on Beaver Ruin Rd. in Norcross and Clayton St. in Lawrenceville will close as staff transition to the new center beginning Aug. 21.
- Beginning Aug. 21, the DFCS office at 446 W. Crogan St., Lawrenceville will be closed to clients of economic assistance programs. The office will still be open for limited child welfare services through November.
- DFCS offices currently located at 2211 Beaver Ruin Rd., Norcross, and 33 S. Clayton St., Lawrenceville, will close Aug. 21.
- DCSS offices in Gwinnett will begin relocating to the Constitution Boulevard location in late October to mid-November. Clients can manage their case online at www.childsupport.ga.gov.
- Offices for the Department’s Division of Aging Services will not be relocated to the new location. The Gwinnett Senior Services Center’s address is 567 Swanson Dr., Lawrenceville GA 30043. For information on Aging Services or to report adult abuse, neglect or exploitation, call 1-866-552-4464.
