GeorgiaCares receives AARP award

ATLANTA (GA) – The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Aging Services received an award from AARP Georgia recently for outstanding leadership and dedication in providing information for consumers during the Medicare Rx campaign in 2004.

The award was presented to Jennie Deese, director of GeorgiaCares, and Vicki Mikels, coordinator of GeorgiaCares State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), at the AARP Georgia Power of One volunteer recognition luncheon held in February in Macon.

Kenneth A. Mitchell, AARP State Director, and Cas Robinson, AARP State President awarded the plague.

“AARP Georgia is one of GeorgiaCares’ partners and has been especially helpful with volunteer recruitment,’ stated Barbara McBrayer-Brice, manager of Elder Rights & Advocacy.
