ATLANTA – Department of Human Services (DHS) Commissioner Robyn A. Crittenden has extended the registration deadline for Georgia’s third annual Senior Hunger Summit to Oct. 8. The summit will be Oct. 16-17 in Columbus.

DHS and its Division of Aging Services invite professionals, students and others interested in combating senior hunger to share and learn about the ways senior hunger is being addressed in Georgia. A wide spectrum of fields – nonprofit, business, government, faith-based, civic and academic – will be represented.

Summit attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify barriers that contribute to senior hunger and examine associated risks.
  • Learn about senior hunger statistics nationally and within Georgia.
  • Hear members of the Georgia legislature address senior hunger issues.
  • Network and leverage partnerships to combat senior hunger.
  • Share best practices in addressing senior hunger.

Pricing: Two-day cost is $175; one-day is $100; significant discounts are available for retirees and students who show a valid student ID. Space is limited to the first 200 people registered.
