The Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) names Director for Cherokee County DFCS
CANTON – The Division of Family and Children Services recently named Brooke Ford as Director of Cherokee County DFCS.
Ms. Ford, who graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in social work, began her career with the Division in 2006 as an intern with Cobb County DFCS. She served as a Social Services Case Manager for several years before being promoted to supervision in 2009. Ms. Ford transferred to the Office of Inspector General in 2013. Returning to DFCS in 2014, she has been serving as a Social Services Administrator in Bartow County.
DFCS is responsible for the investigation of reports of child abuse; recruitment of foster homes for abused and neglected children; issuance of SNAP, Medicaid, TANF and childcare assistance to low-income families; assistance for out-of-work parents to help them get back on their feet as well as multiple support services and programs to help families in need.
Ms. Ford begins her appointment on August 1.
