ATLANTA – The Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) will celebrate August as Child Support Awareness Month, in which the public will be informed of the programs and services offered by DCSS.

DCSS strives to ensure that the responsibilities of both parents to their children are upheld. DCSS promotes the health and well-being of all children by ensuring that noncustodial parents adhere to their responsibilities on a regular basis as agreed between parents or ordered by the courts. Initiatives such as the Parental Accountability Court program, the Fatherhood program and many other services give parents the resources to emotionally and financially support their children.

“Throughout the month of August, we will be ‘DCSS Strong’ in educating the public on the programs and services offered by child support, as well as giving the public more insight on who we are and what we can do as DCSS strives to build stronger families for a stronger Georgia,” said DCSS Director Tanguler Gray.

During Child Support Awareness month, custodial and noncustodial parents can avail themselves to information about child support on the DHS social media pages including:

  • Opening a child support case
  • Review and modification
  • Establishing paternity
  • Filing a support order
  • Fatherhood and Parental Accountability Court programs
  • Child access & visitation
  • License reinstatement
  • Setting up payments
  • Services offered on the DCSS mobile app

Both custodial and noncustodial parents are encouraged to visit the DHS Facebook page,  https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaDepartmentofHumanServices/, and the DHS Twitter page https://twitter.com/gadhs?lang=en, every day in August for further information on the resources provided by DCSS.
