ATLANTA — Georgia’s Child Support Services mobile app earned its fourth award and garnered national attention as a winner at this year’s 4th annual Government Experience Awards hosted by the Center for Digital Government.

The State Government Experience award recognizes the achievements and best practices of state government agencies that are improving customer experiences and pushing the boundaries of how citizen services are delivered.

“Since its launch, the DCSS On the Go mobile app has helped the agency connect with families in ways that were previously out of reach,” said Robyn Crittenden, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Human Services. “I am so proud of the work in DCSS and the team behind the app. This award is a testament to the Department’s commitment to Georgia parents and children.”

When state offices and other facilities nationwide closed abruptly due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Division of Child Support Services’ (DCSS) On the Go mobile app kept parents connected with DCSS services.

“It has been the driver behind our ability to engage with and effectively serve Georgia families during this pandemic,” DCSS Director Tanguler Gray said. “Families need more support now than ever before, and the mobile app has been instrumental in helping us continue to build stronger families.”

DCSS launched the free app in September 2016, making Georgia one of the first states to provide a full-service app to assist parents with child support cases on their mobile devices. Since its creation, the On the Go mobile app has received several awards, national recognition and high customer ratings from parents for its convenience and ease of use.

“As an agency, we strive to use innovative technology to serve Georgia families,” said Venkat Krishnan, Department of Human Services chief information officer. “The DCSS On the Go app allows parents to conduct business with us without having to physically visit one of our locations, and right now, that means everything. DHS will continue to push for more ways we can make our services more accessible and easy to use.”

Custodial and noncustodial parents with current child support cases can use the app to securely access information about their cases, upload documents, make and review payments, view upcoming appointments and contact a child support representative.

The On the Go mobile app is available on Apple and Android devices and can be downloaded via the App Store or the Google Play Store.
