Child Support Services provides guidance during COVID-19

The Division of Child Support Services is committed to the well-being of our customers. In response to COVID-19, DCSS is taking action to ensure customers continue to have access to the services they need. We encourage everyone to use the self-service options available to access case information quickly and easily.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:

Q: Is my local office closed?

A: DCSS is incorporating a phased transition back to the office with limited in-person services. Customers should use self-service options as the primary means to check the status of their cases.

Q: How can I contact the Division of Child Support Services about my case?

A: All DCSS offices are experiencing a phased opening with limited in-person services. Child support staff are working remotely to serve customers online and by phone. Customers can use any of the following self-service options to conduct business with DCSS.

Q: What are the hours for the toll-free line?

A: Our current hours are from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. These hours are effective until further notice.

Q: My income has been reduced because of layoffs/closures/quarantines related to COVID-19, and I’m unable to pay my full support amount. Am I at risk for license suspension or contempt?

A: DCSS understands many people are experiencing a reduction in income related to COVID-19. If you are unable to pay your support, please contact your case manager as soon as possible to discuss your situation and available options. Customers who were laid off may be eligible for our Fatherhood or other outreach programs for assistance in finding employment.

Q: If the child support office managing my case closes, will payments for my case continue to be processed?

A: At this time, DCSS offices are closed to the public, but staff are still working. Payments will continue to be processed as usual. If you have specific questions about your case, please contact DCSS directly using one of the self-service options.

During this time, the Division of Child Support Services is committed to serving both custodial and noncustodial parents in every way possible.
