Join a virtual Dementia Friends session
June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, and offers an opportunity to hold conversations about the brain and public health issues like Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
Today, more than 150,000 Georgians have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and they are cared for by over 500,000 unpaid caregivers. The value of unpaid caregiving is more than $8 billion in Georgia! For more information, take a look at the 2020 Alzheimer's disease facts and figures report. Be an ally for your family, friends and neighbors living with dementia.
How can you get involved? Become a Dementia Friend!
Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think, act and talk about dementia. It’s a way of thinking and doing, as well as deeply respecting the men and women who live with dementia. As a member of our state’s growing band of allies, you recognize that Georgians with dementia have the right to make their own choices, pursue meaningful activity and participate in decisions that affect their lives.
