Honor an older Georgian in your life
Every May, the Department of Human Services honors the older adults in our communities. This month provides an opportunity to reinforce our commitment to meeting the growing needs of Georgia’s most vulnerable. Around the nation, older adults strengthen their communities as volunteers, employees, employers, parents, grandparents, mentors and advocates.
This year’s theme for Older Americans Month (OAM) is “Communities of Strength.” This theme celebrates the countless contributions that older adults make to communities nationwide and how everyone can come together in support of older generations. During this time, we are encouraging everyone to celebrate the contributions of the older Georgians in their lives.
For 58 years, OAM has been a special time to recognize these contributions. Led by the Administration for Community Living each May, OAM also provides resources to help older Americans stay healthy and independent, and materials to help communities support and celebrate their residents.
Communities that support and include all their members are stronger! Please join the Department of Human Services in strengthening our community.
