Celebrate social work this March
March is National Social Work Month, and this year, we’re celebrating with the theme “The Time is Right for Social Work.” Throughout history, social workers have played key roles in the civil rights and women’s rights movements. Now more than ever, as the world grapples with many social, environmental and health-related challenges, social workers are vital to creating a stronger Georgia.
At DHS, the time is always right for social work. Every day, our case workers help constituents with services ranging from medical assistance, adult protective services, child support, child welfare, foster and adoptive care and beyond. We are an agency made up of social workers answering the call to help their fellow Georgians navigate some of life’s toughest challenges.
All month long, we will recognize the contributions of the social workers in our divisions of Aging Services, Child Support Services and Family & Children Services, who have been a lifeline for Georgia’s vulnerable families. We will also spotlight the life-changing work of these frontline employees as well as those of some of the most notable social workers in our nation’s history.
