Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program for Cooling Opens April 3

Atlanta, GA – The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Cooling Program, administered by the Georgia Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS), will be available April 3, 2023, through July 31, 2023, or until funds are exhausted. This federally funded program assists low-income, elderly, and disabled Georgians with cooling bills through direct payments to home energy suppliers.

DHS Files Amendments to Rules and Regulations for Child Placing Agencies with Secretary of State

Atlanta, GA – Today, the Georgia Department of Human Services, as authorized by the Board of Human Services, filed three amendments to the Rules and Regulations for Child Placing Agencies with the Secretary of State. The amendments, which will go into effect March 13, 2023, eliminate the need for providers to request waivers of certain regulatory requirements and make certain regulatory requirements less burdensome for providers.

Too often, the Georgia Department of Human Services receives reports of criminals working to steal customers’ benefits. While we cannot stop criminals from acting, we encourage all customers to be vigilant and take steps to educate themselves and protect their private information and benefits.
