Office of Inspector General

Georgia’s residents are entitled to a government that is committed to the highest standards of integrity, efficiency and accountability. The Georgia Department of Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) has been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure that our programs and operational practices adhere to these fundamentally sound standards.

We support the DHS mission to improve self-sufficiency, independence and protect Georgia’s vulnerable children and adults. Accordingly, we proactively seek to uncover fraud, waste and abuse by conducting independent and objective audits, investigations and other activities. The results of our efforts have effectively driven positive change in the management of DHS program administration and human capital management.

The Office of Inspector General is comprised of five program units: Background Investigations, Benefit Integrity and Recovery Unit, Internal Audits, Internal Investigations and Residential Child Care and four support functions: Fiscal Operations, Information Technology, Legal Services and Policy and Special Projects.
